What are those URLs I need to change in order to install or update? What version is it installing? Why is it installing that version in particular? What if I need different versions for different projects? What are tools like Snap and Homebrew and do they affect the installing of the dependencies? Why do some dependencies need to be installed in the same directory of the project while others don't? Where are these tools/dependencies being saved to? I understand that I am installing a tool to be used, but that's it.

I have a fair experience in programming (first years of Software Engineering completed, coding background on C and Assembly, projects using Java, Salesforce, Unity Engine), and now that I'm diving into Node, Solidity, and other techs I find myself lost when installing different dependencies. I have no clue about what is happening when I install a dependency.
